I have horrible credit. I have credit cards that are not even delinquent anymore, but written off. I don't even want to know what my credit score is. My credit is so bad, that I can not get a cell phone without a deposit . I even have my home phone number unlisted so the debt collectors won't bother me all day. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can repair bad credit? Most of my stuff has already been written off, but there are a few things current still that I'm trying to clean up. I hear they can still collect on write offs too. Please help me! I need to fix my bad credit re-establish good credit!

Having bad credit can be frustrating because it is a slow and sometimes a difficult process to fix. However, if you have some patients and some know how, it will make it much easier to get your credit back on track. Here are some basic steps to fix bad credit.

First, make sure all the information on your credit report is accurate.

Second, try to pay off all or any accounts that are currently in collections or make payment arrangements with the creditor to pay off the balance monthly.

Third, any credit card that is over 50% of the available credit line should be paid down to under half of your total credit line. Your credit score is lowered when your available balance is over 50% of your total credit line.

Finally, if you have bad or no credit and have no credit cards try to obtain two credit cards and make sure all of your monthly payments are made on time. This will help increase your credit score. If you cannot be approved for a unsecured credit card, obtain a secured credit card.

Pay your bills.

Borrow money and pay it back faithfully, you will build up a credit rating, but not if you continue to default on what you owe.

It is very frustrating to have bad credit, and I know it makes you embarrassed and feel humiliated. I was in the same position as you a year ago, with a 480 FICO. I couldn't get anything without a deposit, and I joke that I couldn't even finance a stick of gum.

Any bills that you currently have, you need to make sure you are paying on time. NEVER LATE. This reflects poorly on your credit rating.

Repair is a long process that does not happen overnight. Often companies that write off your debt, sell it to other debt collectors, so you can be harassed for years. Depending on the sum of the debt, you can be sued for it. There are numerous steps you want to take to keep your sanity and to improve your credit.

1) DO NOT call a debt consolidation company. Anything they do for you, you can do yourself. They will actually make your credit WORSE in the long run.

2) DO NOT hire some crack-headed credit repair agency. They'll make big claims, but anything they are doing, you can do yourself. If you're having trouble paying your bills, the last thing you need to do is fork out more money to some people who will do for you what you can do for yourself.

3) Remember credit repair is a slow journey. It is not an overnight process, but with due diligence, it can be done. Email me for more specific info, and be assured, I'm not going to sell you a thing, or ask for any personal info. I enjoy helping people through their credit problems cause I was there, and I know how hard it is. Nothing gives me more satisfaction than pulling my American Express card out with a $6000 limit and paying a bill with it because I couldn't get a secured card for awhile…

Go to creditboards.com/forums. There is a TON of FREE information. You don't pay A THING, and TRUST me, all of the people on the boards have been where you are, and will tell you awesome stories of coming back. You'll be amazed. The boards will outline the specific process you need to go through to get yourself back on track.

. Usually companies charge hundreds of dollars to simply pull your credit and send correctly worded dispute letters—this is the key…..people will tell you that you can do this yourself for free but the truth of the matter is that the credit bureaus will throw your letters away or simply reject them. There is an easy to use online kit that will deliver the results you want available for just $19.95 at the source website. A similar kit is being sold via infomercials and radio talk shows for seventy dollars more but they try to solicit you repeatedly for other services after the fact.
